ONE THING I WOULD CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD by Sarrah Vaziri

To start off I want to say that the world cannot be described as imperfect because who would know what would happen to us if the world was full of things we wish there were. The world isn’t perfect; it just is what it is.
This does not mean we can just sit around doing nothing. We can at least try to make the world a better place and try to remove something bad that is happening and replace it with something good. The point I am trying to make is: I am not saying the world is terrible but I am also not saying the world is completely perfect. This is nothing but an idea that I would change in the minds of everyone in this world.
I would get the foolish idea out of everyone’s minds that we are all different. I am not talking about each individual not being unique but the idea that comes in other people’s minds when others are slightly diverse. Our world has come to a stage where everyone’s a critic. No matter what their age is. Wherever we go, whatever we do; we judge. This isn’t just about racism. I mean everyone and everything. The thought that certain people are only capable of doing certain things and if they do anything out-of-the-box, then our minds start thinking things and those thoughts process into being words that can eventually hurt the other person’s feelings. It’s like saying a blonde, pretty girl cannot top her class or a nerd cannot look beautiful. It is assuming things we don’t even know.
Judgment can be done by people who are perfect but since everybody who is in this world has at least one flaw, then why should anybody have the right to have a bad thought about anybody else? If you feel that you are flawless then your thought is your biggest weakness. Feeling that you are great and looking down on everybody is your flaw. Even the most ideal role-model can be absolutely terrible at something and even a crooked person who can’t do anything right might have an amazing hidden talent. It’s not like people can’t see this. It’s because people only see what they want to see.
Times have now moved on to a modernized age and in this age, nobody should feel insecure or unworthy of being a part of this world. This is the base of why people commit suicide. It’s not because they wake up one day and hate themselves, it’s because they spent their entire life in a society where everybody hated them and that is enough to make a person hate themself. One person can say one word and kill one person but that breaks the heart and kills the inside of one thousand other people. See how that one becomes one thousand in a flash. “Your life isn’t yours to take because others get hurt”. This would stop being a problem if certain people are not labeled for life. They reach a stage where they forget others actually care about them.
This may not be a problem for the people who aren’t the victims because they feel like it’s their job to go around deciding other people’s fate. It eventually becomes a part of their daily routine. Looking at people and disapproving of them as if those people are heartless and don’t have feeling when in reality, the bossy ones are the cold-blooded culprits.
“First impression is the last impression” but is it really? Is looking at a person one time enough to conclude their life story? Unless you are a superior genius who knows everything about everyone, which is highly unlikely. You should never judge a book by its cover so the wise decision is always to open your mind before your mouth. That means to take other options into consideration. Thinking about the possible reasons why a person is in a bad state because once you put a bad thought in your mind about somebody then it’s hard to take it out so we should always make good assumptions about everyone we see. Changing something good into something bad can be done in a millisecond but on the contrary, a bad thought can take forever into changing well.
“Every person on this planet has a story, don’t judge until you know theirs”. This is similar to what I said above. Looking at the full picture. Seeing what is on the inside because beauty is only skin deep. You don’t know if a pretty face has an ugly personality or vice-versa.
Sitting in a corner and becoming a nitpicker does not define who they are, it defines who you are. It is said that you are what you eat but I also say that you are what you say to others. If you feel somebody else is dreadful or lousy then the truth might be that you are that thing itself because you aren’t ready to accept yourself. This eventually leads to taking all that anger out on others. That is actually not how life works because you need to take yourself as you are and others how they are. You should never blame others for your misfortune.
But to end it all I want to conclude that the judgment cannot be done by anybody except an adjudicator who has the authority to do so. If it is done by anyone else then it can be called poking your nose into other people’s business. You should care about yourself and care about what people think of you because then you will truly feel what others have felt. Make yourself into what you want others to be. Nobody is who you think they are and you are probably not what others want you to be. Improve yourself before improving others and you might just be a little happier.
In the beginning, I said that I’m not saying that the world is a bad place. That was because I don’t want to be the person I don’t want others to be. I didn’t want to label the world as a bad place because it isn’t and even if it was then I’m nobody to judge. The world just needs to be a little-just a little-better than it already is. That’s all.
