ONE THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE ABOUT THE WORLD by Arwaa Akbar Ali

Our world is such a magnificent creation. When you really think of it, it is a gift given to us without expecting anything in return, but for us to take care of it. People should be grateful for the place we live in. But taking care of our world doesn’t only mean to prevent pollution and decreasing global warming. It also means changing the thinking of the people living here; to change their thoughts and their opinion.

The one thing that bothers me about the world is the thought of the people that women cannot be equal to men in any way; the thinking of people that women deserve less than men. There are many communities still thinking that there is no use of educating their girls because they are not going to be working, they are not going for jobs and they are just going to take care of their home and family.
This disappoints me a lot that people who think like this; they are only thinking of themselves. They do not think of their family. Just to save some money, they don’t educate their girls. This is where it all starts from. Girls are not educated; when they grow up they don’t get their rights. These women are not treated fairly. Then they are not even respected because of not being on any post. Later on, people then start to mistreat women.
The one thing I don’t understand is why these communities do and these societies still have that thinking even by knowing that it wrong and also knows that it such a modern world and now people have started thinking more logically. Some societies don’t understand that, girls are going to become the future mothers, and then it’s their children who go on to make the future world. Once the child is born, only an educated mother will know all the importance and the nourishment needed for the child at that time. As the child grows up, first it is home from where it starts to learn, and the child learns from its mother. But if the mother is not educated, she will not be able to teach her child anything. Not only at home, but also this helps getting a good job. If a woman also works, the family gets more income as the men also works. Like this, women can also help in contributing in their family expenses. But only happens if the woman is educated.
This has been a really big problem from the beginning. But slowly, as the time passed and new generations came with their new views and opinions, so now these problems are less. But what I want to change is the thoughts of those communities who still think the same way.
Educating women and girls gives them those rights which they should have. It gives them that respect which they should get from others. So when they grow up they bring up new impressions and views to the world and to the people.
Many famous people have talked about women empowerment. As Brigham Young said,” You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate women; you educate a generation.” To conclude I want to say that you educate a woman, so later on they will be the one who will change the world and be an inspiration for all.
